The consequences of sarcopenia due to aging is often not getting noticed. Sarcopenia that is characterized by decreased muscle mass accompanied by decreased muscle strength and / or performance is often regarded as an ordinary physiological change due to aging. Muscles that have a mass of nearly 50% of the body mass are very important. Muscles are not just a body movement tool. Muscles are endocrine organs that can secrete proteins (myokines) that affect the metabolic of bodies systematically. Muscles are protective organs that counteract the negative effects of body fat. If muscle mass decreases (sarcopenia) then the protective function of the body will be disrupted. Nutrition and exercise are 2 main pillars to maintain muscle mass and function. In this book will be discussed aging process and its effect on muscles and understanding sarcopenia, diagnosis, and its comprehensive management. Future challenges for being able to diagnose sarcopenia more easily and find treatment witheffective and safe targeted use long-term advanced age.
