Klappentext zu „America by Heart “
Since her dramatic emergence on the national stage as a vice presidential candidate in 2008, Gov. Sarah Palin has established herself as a commanding presence in our ongoing debates about the national economic crisis, the proper role of government in addressing them, and the performance of the Obama Administration. In her capacity as a public figure and media commentator, Gov. Palin has traveled the country extensively, visiting cities and towns in almost every state, dropping in on military bases, and giving talks and speeches to small groups and at massive rallies. Throughout her travels, she has had the privilege of meeting thousands of Americans -- ordinary men and women who shared with her their hopes and dreams, their love of country, and their fears about the future. Inspired by these encounters, Governor Palin s book celebrates the enduring strengths and virtues that have made this country a beacon of liberty and hope for the rest of the world.AMERICA BY HEART is a highly personal testament to her deep love of country, her strong rootedness in faith, and her profound love and appreciation of family. Ranging widely over American history, culture, and current affairs, Governor Palin reflects on the key values that have been such a profound part of her own life and that continue to inform her vision of America s future. The book also includes brief selections and excerpts from classic and contemporary readings that have moved and inspired her, interspersed with her own thoughts and observations, as well as portraits of Americans she admires, both famous and obscure. From the Declaration of Independence to Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, from the soaring rhetoric of Martin Luther King to the lyrics of Toby Keith, from Helen Keller to The Onion, these readings add up to a ringing defense of America as a unique and indispensable force for good in the world today.
