Klappentext zu „Köhler, D: Bachelor “
This catalogue is the fi rst to document samples from the Bachelor thesisworks undertaken at the Architecture faculty of the University of Innsbruck in2013-14.It catches the school at a signifi cant time of transition as it juxtaposes, in thewake of recent reforms, its historic structure of institutes to a model of designunits informed by specifi c consultant areas. The range of work presented here demonstrates the effectiveness of a studiosystem in generating intense, cohesive approaches that refl ect the diversityinherent in the school. This diversity is fundamental in an atmosphere of dialogue, exchange, aswell as confrontation - in other words within the ethics and modalities of anacademic discourse. It is precisely by respecting and acknowledging thesedifferences in pedagogical and theoretical positions and by engaging themactively, that the work achieves the integrity and focus necessary to validateits commitment and relevance to present needs and expectations. The Bachelor program provides the foundation, understanding and testingground for a discipline that is becoming increasingly multifaceted and polycentric. It requires an overall perception of a shifting and evolving ground, inviting anticipation and speculation - an assimilation of knowledge, skills, and tools, with the ability to engage and develop them in relation to urgentquestions. While staking out the boundaries of architecture as a discipline, the Bachelorprogram lays the seeds for redefi ning the profi le and profession, inviting theemergence of new models, new fi elds of activity, other modes of engagement. The vitality presented by the exhibition testifi es to the commitment and energyof both faculty and students who, with the support of the Architektur-Werkstatt,guests, tutors and the general staff, contribute to the development andenrichment of our school.
