Butea monosperma

Butea monosperma is a deciduous tree found in mountain habitat in Pakistan. It appears that pretty much all parts of the tree are used in traditional Pakistani medicine, called Tib e Unani (medicine of Greece) for a variety of purposes depending on the part of the plant used. The flowers are perhaps the most commonly used in traditional medicine and used for the treatment of liver disorders (such as inflammation or viral hepatitis), sexual dysfunction, diuresis, infections, arthritis and as a general tonic. The leaves have been used for cough, diabetes, menstruation disorders, intestinal worms, piles, in central nervous system disorders, and for the treatment of sexual debility as well as the sensation of burning pain (thought to refer to neuropathic pain rather than urinary pain from STIs). The roots are used for filariasis, night blindness, helminthiasis, piles, ulcers, tumors. Despite the current bioactive of interest located in the bark extracts, the bark (and seeds) just have a traditional usage for making a juice to temporarily stave of fertility. The stem is also a variety of uses. Important one is a stem is an antibacterial action against some bacteria.
