Why should knitters have all the fun when it comes to colourwork? If you prefer using one hook to two needles but wish you could crochet colourful garments like knitters then this collection of colourful crochet clothing is for you. Whether it's a sweater with a decorative yoke or a matching beanie and glove set in a Scandinavian-inspired design, this collection of crochet patterns shows that it's not just knitters who can make colorwork sweaters and accessories ; crochet can be just as versatile once you know the techniques.Author, Sandra Gutierrez, explains how to use tapestry crochet and its variations to create fairisle crochet patterns on garments and accessories. Other colorwork techniques included are standard mosaic crochet, worked flat and in the round; single row mosaic crochet worked in the round to create texture; intarsia crochet which lends itself to more graphic images; and how to use stripes and color blocking as an accent on a shawl and sweater. There are step-by-step instructions and photography explaining all the different crochet colorwork techniques with detailed instructions about how to change colour, carrying floats and the importance of swatching and gauge. There are also general techniques about how to choose colors, how different yarns create different effects and how to substitute yarn. The collection also includes a number of garment construction techniques so you can build your crochet clothing skills as well as learning the colorwork techniques. Lese-Probe zu „Colorful Crochet Knitwear “
To me, the materials in a crochet pattern often read like the ingredients in a potion: some yarn and a hook; all that you need to make magic happen. Many people think that crochet is limited-and sometimes crochet garments may feel too "craftsy" to wear-but with my designs I often hear people say "I had no idea you could make that with crochet!". I want to show the world that crochet knitwear is just as versatile as knitted garments, if not more so, and can be just as professional-looking. I also want to show how crochet colorwork techniques open infinite doors of self-expression and fun with yarn! This book is designed to teach you my favorite colorwork techniques, including tapestry, mosaic, intarsia and stripes-with all of their variations and interpretations. Each technique section includes a detailed explanation and a small swatch lesson for you to practice the technique on a small scale. It also includes sections on how to choose the right colors and fibers for your project, as well as important tips for making garments. The last section includes not only basic crochet stitches, but also techniques that I love using in my garments. If you need extra help understanding any of these techniques, feel free to visit my website at NomadStitches.com for extra guidance.Color has been a language for me since I was a little girl. Subtlety has never been my strength, and since becoming a knitwear designer I have truly loved discovering new ways of mixing colors while creating professional-looking garments that people can wear in their everyday lives. As an adult, I have lived in ten di_erent countries, and my love of languages and foreign cultures almost matches my love of yarn. One thing that I have learned on my travels is that clothes are more than just something you wear to keep warm. They are a way to express who we are and how we feel. Handmade garments in particular have the magic of carrying with them memories and emotions of the time you spent making them. They

are like a language. In that spirit, I have been inspired to name each one of the designs after beautiful words that don't have direct translations into English.Once you have gained confidence in the techniques and you are ready to make knitwear, I invite you to dive into the fourteen new patterns contained in this book. They are designed to showcase the versatility of crochet and motivate you to learn something new. They have modern, uncomplicated shaping that will _atter anybody and will keep you entertained while making them. Every one of the designs represents something beautiful and has become, at one time or another, my favorite. I made them all while pregnant with my second daughter, so they have even more significance for me. I really hope you like them as much as I do and that you have fun planning the color palettes for each of them.Happy Crocheting!
