Much of the oil and natural gas we use today formed from seaweeds which partially decomposed on the sea floor many millions of years ago. The oceans have extensive biodiversity of marine organisms and huge resource potential to provide many complex chemical compounds with functional materials including polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), polysaccharides, essential minerals and vitamins, antioxidants, enzymes and bioactive peptides. Among marine organisms, macroalgae are rich sources of structurally diverse bioactive compounds with different bioactivity spectra and biomedical value. Research and utilization of marine algal community have increased markedly that directly offers an enormous untapped reservoir of novel drug
