Klappentext zu „Engineering Damage Mechanics “
Reflecting his major contributions to the field, Jean Lemaitre's "Engineering Damage Mechanics" presents simplified and advanced methods organized within a unified framework for designers of any mechanical component. Explains how to apply continuous damage mechanics to failures of mechanical and civil engineering components in ductile, creep, fatigue and brittle conditions.
Incorporates many basic examples, while emphasizing key practical considerations such as material parameter identification, and provides perspective on the advantage and disadvantages of various approaches.

Autoren-Porträt von Jean Lemaitre, Rodrigue Desmorat
Engineering Damage Mechanics is deliberately oriented toward applications of Continuous Damage Mechanics to failures of mechanical and civil engineering components in ductile, creep, fatigue and brittle conditions depending upon the thermomechanical loading and the materials: metals and alloys, polymers, elastomers, composites, concretes. Nevertheless, to help engineers, researchers, beginners or not, the first two chapters are devoted to the main concepts of damage mechanics and to the associated computational tools.

Pressezitat
From the reviews: "Many new ideas are presented and discussed. So the book can be recommended to all engineers and students of engineering concerned with lifetime prediction and with the failure resistant design of structures, components and processes ... . The book is an excellent comprehensive guide to Damage Mechanics." (H. Altenbach, Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, Vol. 85 (11), 2005)
