Welche Rechtschreibregeln verlangen weniger Grammatikkenntnisse von Schreibenden - die "alten" oder die reformierten? Sabine Mayr untersucht die Regelverzeichnisse dreier gängiger "alter" und "neuer" Rechtschreibwörterbücher (Duden, 20. Aufl. 1991 und 22. Aufl. 2000; Bertelsmann 1999) darauf hin, welche grammatischen Fachausdrücke sie als bekannt voraussetzen, wo Verständnisprobleme liegen und ob bzw. wie diese gelöst werden können (z. B. welche Grammatik weiterhilft). Der Vergleich zeigt, dass mit der Reform die Regelverständlichkeit etwas verbessert worden ist.
