The contributions deal with the early tyranny in Sicily and its political functionalisation of space [Leeck], papyrus Bingen 45e and Mediterranean trade under Cleopatra [Bussi], the campaign tents of Roman emperors as imperatores [Stoll], rare and recent Greek professional titles especially of Byzantine times [Diethart], the mines and quarries of Gallia Narbonensis [Groff], a late Roman ensemble of equipment made from crocodile skin and regimental identity of Roman army units [Stoll], antique wine aging in amphorae and experiments regarding their waterproofing [Auler] as well as beeswax and its economic significance according to literary and papyrological sources [Reinard]. The book reviews relate to Cicero's Agrarian Speeches, the socio-economic world of the taberna, the social and economic history of Archaic and Classical Greek Sicily, an introduction to Greek numismatics, the Romanisation of Cilicia according to inscriptions, the lex sacra of Selinus and manipulation of the dead in Archaic and Classical times as well as power and public finance in Rome.
