Produktinformationen zu „Medea “
Latin edition with Italian translation and commentary as well as English summaries.
Hosidius Geta's tragedy "Medea" is a late antique cento poem, a linguistic patchwork crafted by stitching together half-lines from the works of Virgil. Following the rules of cento composition, Geta cuts the "Aeneid", the "Georgics" and the "Bucolics" into rags and sews them back together to recount the myth of Medea. This line-by-line philological and literary commentary analyzes Geta's compositional technique and shows that his fascinating poem hides a rich web of intertextual games and a witty, learned practice.
