Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB), biodegradable thermoplastic polyester is emerging out as a boon to overcome the problem of plastic waste accumulation. The main aim of this study was to through light on production of bacterial PHB, isolation, cloning and characterization of PHB synthase, the key gene of PHB biosynthsis. Since the environmental pollution is severely increasing, so it's an urgent need to solve this problem which is addressed in this manuscript. The data generated during the present study along with available information may thus serve as a framework for microbiologist to plan future experiments to explore the possibility of utilizing PHB in solving environmental problems.
