Optimization in Green Sustainability and Ecological Transition

Preface.- OR in Healthcare: in this chapter we expect to propose works focusing on the use of operations research techniques in health care.- OR in Logistics: in this chapter we expect to propose works focusing on several logistic problems, e.g., supply chain, city logistics, port management.- OR in Transportation: in this chapter we expect to propose works which focus is on transportation problems involving both transportation of people and freight.- Optimization and Data Science: in this chapter we expect to propose contributions focusing on several aspects of data science.- Network Flows: in this chapter we expect to propose contributions focusing on theoretical and practical issues emerging in network optimization problems.- Combinatorial Optimization: in this chapter we expect to propose contributions focusing on theoretical and practical issues emerging in combinatorial optimization problems.

Maurizio Bruglieri is Associate Professor of Operations Research at Politecnico di Milano where he teaches Operations Research for different degrees courses since 2005. His main research interests focus on combinatorial optimization and mathematical modeling of optimization problems in the transportation field and in the development of metaheuristic solution methods. He is Author of more than 70 scientific papers including about 40 articles published in international peer-reviewed journals. His publications mainly concern (but are not limited to) the electric car-sharing management (e.g., vehicle relocation problem), the electric/green vehicle routing problem, the hazmat network design, and graph partitioning problems. 



Paola Festa obtained her Ph.D. degree in Operations Research in 2000. She is currently Full Professor in Operations Research at the University of Napoli FEDERICO II, where since 2002 she has been teaching Programming (undergraduate degree), Operations Research (undergraduate degree), and Combinatorial Optimization (master's degree). She is in the scientific committee of the Ph.D. Program in Mathematics and Computer Science (University of Napoli FEDERICO II). She has been in the scientific committee of the Ph.D. Program in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (University of Napoli FEDERICO II) and in the scientific committee of the Ph.D. Program in Operations Research (University of Calabria). Since 1999, she has been frequently Research Scholar at several national and international research institutions, including CNRs, MIT Lab for Information and Decision Systems (USA), AT&T Labs Research (USA), and Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of the University of Florida (USA). She is Author/Co-author of more than 100 publications appeared in international journals, books, and peer-reviewed conference proceedings.
