OSTEOPOIKILOSIS AND RELATED SCLEROTIC BONE DISORDERS

This book aims to provide guidelines for the diagnosis of particularly rare groups of sclerotic bone disorders. It is hoped and expected that this book will raise awareness and provide information to anyone who seeks it, and especially to it physicians from all disciplines dealing with bone dysplasias. It is primarily intended for residents, radiologists, orthopedists and other disciplines dealing with diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Author has strictly adhered to the simplicity, comprehensiveness, and practicality of the approach in making the most interesting sclerotic bone dysplasia that can be misinterpreted in daily practice. Osteopoikilosis is one of those disorders that may act both: "as a friend and as a foe". A correct interpretation of all findings and detailed listing of all possible differential diagnoses are mandatory in dealing with this kind of "enemies". Making a correct diagnosis involves a comprehensive approach and a high level of interdisciplinary collaboration among many specialties to help the patient adequately. Particularly important are the medico-legal aspects of the treatment of these diseases. The main goal was to keep this text user-friendly.
