Klappentext zu „Philosophy and Politics: the Heidegger affair “
This is an inquiry in dialogue form of the relationship between philosophy and the political through the shocking case of Martin Heidegger, author of the commanding work Sein und Zeit in 1927. He joined the National Socialist Workers Party on May 3rd, 1933, authorities backdated that to May Ist 1933. His betrayal of philosophy as the pursuit of wisdom has troubled many, including his friend Hannah Arendt, a close friend who had been a student of Heidegger and was herself Jewish.
