Lauren Child, geboren 1967, wuchs in Wiltshire auf, einer Grafschaft im Süden Englands. Sie studierte an der City and Guilds Art School in London. Danach hatte sie verschiedene Jobs, bis sie 1999 ihr erstes Kinderbuch veröffentlichte. Heute ist Lauren Child eine der bekanntesten Kinderbuchautorinnen und Illustratorinnen Englands.Astrid Lindgren, die bekannteste Kinderbuchautorin der Welt, wurde 1907 auf Näs im schwedischen Smaland geboren, wo sie im Kreis ihrer Geschwister eine überaus glückliche Kindheit verlebte.
