On the Intermedial Impacts of the Reformation]The volume contains contributions to the topic of the intermedial impacts of the Reformation, providing pioneering studies from the fields of historical and systematic theology, historiography, history of art, literature and music, and media studies. It is the common objective of these disciplines to acknowledge the Reformation movements as media events. At the time of the Reformation, a wide variety of media has been used - print media, picture media, music, singing, sermons, etc. - especially in combinations intended for mutual reinforcement (image and text, music and text, etc.). Furthermore, a special focus is laid on the medial impact of the Reformation from the late 16th up to the 18th century. In addition, (post)modern transformations or realisations of a Protestant understanding of media are discussed in view of travel and press photography and the churches' media presence.
