The study aims to Successful isolation process of rubella virus from aborted feti and newborn infant with congenital deformity gave an indication of rubella virus circulation in Iraqi population.ELISA test can be used efficiently for screening of immune states of women at child bearing age , so that it mostly used periodically for the detection of non-immunized individuals in order to be included in next vaccination campaign . The result of this study showed negative anti-rubella antibodies test in some vaccinated women which might refer to an ineffective vaccine or bad coverage of vaccination campaign.Congenital rubella infection till now represents a problem of still birth or abortion in both governorates . Vero, Hep-2 and transformed human lymphocyte cell-line can be used successfully for rubella virus isolation. the study aims to project a light on the success of the ongoing vaccination program in Al-Najaf and Al-Qadesia Governorates.
