Klappentext zu „Self-Ligation in Orthodontics “
Self-Ligation in Orthodontics is a major new text that reviews, analyses and clarifies the currently available peer-reviewed evidence on a number of applications of this technology, espousing diverse perspectives to make this a unique scientific resource on self-ligation.The book embraces all aspects of self-ligating brackets, extending from therapeutic outcome, to biomechanics, materials, and treatment manifestations. Each chapter addresses a specific question pertinent to the properties and clinical performance of self-ligating brackets including: force and moment generation during engagement; temporal variation of force in active self-ligating brackets; periodontal considerations and oral microbiota alterations; root resorption; treatment efficiency and associated dental effects.
A work of substantial, thoughtful, and useful scholarship, Self-Ligation in Orthodontics will be a significant resource for clinicians and researchers in orthodontics, and related dental specialists.
* First comprehensive resource on self-ligation in orthodontics
* Surveys available peer-reviewed evidence
* Epitomizes the management of self-ligating treatment suggesting important treatment concepts and tips for the practicing clinician
* Includes diverse perspectives to provide a balanced and scholarly approach
* Richly illustrated with detailed color clinical images

Autoren-Porträt von Theodore Eliades, Nikolaos Pandis
Dr. Nikolaos Pandis received a DDS from the University of Athens, Greece and trained at the Ohio State University graduating with an MS degree and orthodontic certificate. He also completed a fellowship at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center, in surgical orthodontics before entering full-time practice. He has published more than 15 papers in TMJ radiography and clinical effectiveness of bonding protocols in leading orthodontic periodicals, and has recently completed a series of studies in various performance indicators of self-ligating brackets in vivo; he maintains a practice in Corfu, Greece.Theodore Eliades,Associate Professor, Department of Orthodontics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece; Honorary Research Fellow, University of Manchester, UK; Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor, Marquette University, USA; Adjunct Scientist, Houston Biomaterials Research Center, University of Texas, USA; Visiting Faculty, University of Bonn, Germany
A recognized authority in orthodontic materials, Dr. Eliades completed Master's and specialty curricula at the Ohio State University, earned a doctorate in orthopaedic biomaterials at the University of Athens, School of Medicine, and received a PhD in Biomaterials from the University of Manchester, UK. His research on the structural conformation and mechanical properties of biomaterials has generated 70 articles and 11 book chapters, which described for the first time the in vivo ageing pattern of orthodontic materials. He has also co-edited 4 textbooks published by international houses, some translated into 3 languages. Dr. Eliades is affiliated with institutes in the US (Texas-Houston and Marquette) and EU (Manchester and Bonn), is a Fellow of the Academy of Dental Materials, Associate Editor of the European Journal of Orthodontics, Editorial Board member in 3 and reviewer in 15 journals; he maintains a practice in Athens.
