Wynnis L. Tom, MD, graduated from Stanford University as a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with Distinction and Phi Beta Kappa in 1998. She subsequently became a Doctor of Medicine in 2003 after studying at the University of California, San Diego. From 2004 to 2007 Dr. Tom served first as a Resident and then Chief Resident at the Department of Dermatology, Saint Louis University. She then became a Clinical Fellow in Pediatric Dermatology at Rady Children's Hospital, University of California. Dr. Tom received certification in Dermatology and Pediatric Dermatology from the American Board of Dermatology in 2007 and 2008, respectively. Since 2008 she has been a Staff Physician at Rady Children's Specialists and Hospital Foundation, San Diego. She is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Departments of Pediatrics and Medicine (Dermatology), University of California, San Diego. Dr. Tom has received various honors and awards, including the Stanford University President's Award for Academic Excellence in 1996 and an Academic Excellence Award from the University of California, San Diego in 2002. In February 2011 she acted as Forum Director for the American Academy of Dermatology's 69th Annual Meeting in New Orleans on Treating Severe Skin Disease in Children. She is a reviewer for several leading journals, and has been the lead or co-author of a number of journal articles, book chapters, and scientific presentations.
