Royston Ellis has lived in Sri Lanka since 1980 and has travelled extensively throughout the country. He is the author of 65 novels, guidebooks and biographies published in the UK and USA as well as previous editions of Bradt guides to Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Mauritius. He is the editorial consultant for a magazine for tourists published in Sri Lanka and the compiler of an emailed weekly newsletter on Sri Lanka with nearly 200,000 readers, the majority in the UK & USA.
