Heterocyclic chemistry comprises at least half of all organic chemistry research worldwide. The large number of biologically active molecules that contain heterocyclic rings has made synthetic studies of new heterocyclic rings very attractive, particularly, polyfunctionalized heterocyclic compounds play important roles in the drug discovery process, and analysis of drugs in late development or on the market shows that 68% of them are heterocycles. Therefore, it is not surprising that research on the synthesis of poly-functionalized heterocyclic compounds has received significant attention. In recent years, attention has been increasingly paid to the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds which exhibit various biological activities, including antibacterial, fungicidal, tuberculostatic, anti-amoebic, and plant growth regulative properties. The current book covers the synthesis of poly-functionalized heterocyclic compounds and our survey of the literature on the synthesis of these heterocyclic has been divided according to the number of heteroatom in the heterocyclic. This work done to add some efforts to the past researches.
