Dr. Stein organized the 1988, 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1993 Summer Schools on Complex Systems, is a trustee for the Aspen centre for Physics, is on the Science Board at the Santa Fe Institute, and was an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow.
