Don Elliott, "Pappy to the Kriegies"
In addition to recording the military exploits of a young, very brave Pathfinder bomber pilot during the second World War. this down to earth,in the trenches (skies) recap of many harrowing brushes with the grim reaper saga perpetuates the memory of those ten thousand heroic men and women of the Royal Canadian Air Force who gave their lives in Bomber Command.
Major Don Little, R.C.A.F. (retired)
Leslie Zwingli is a retired Commercial Banker who lives in Kelowna, British Columbia with her husband Richard. She has always been interested in her fathers wartime experiences and always spoken about one day writing a book.
When her father agreed to tell his story, her dream of writing became a reality. After three and a half years of extensive research and communication with World War II and Bomber Command aficionados and veterans, she was able to tell her fathers story giving him closure and some peace of mind regarding the fate of his crew members. Today she is an avid Bomber Command enthusiast, assisting others in their quest for information about family and relatives who flew during the war. Leslie is also involved with the establishment of a website for #101 Special Duties Squadron, Ludford Magna.
Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Al Trotter, DFC, DFM, CD, CM, joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941, at the age of 18, wanting to serve his country in World War II.
After returning to Canada, he enrolled in the University of Saskatchewan, where he planned to pursue a Law Degree.
When the R.C.A.F. asked him to rejoin in 1948, he jumped at the chance to fulfil his love of flying and dream to become a fighter pilot. Al served in three wars and was one of only thirty seven Canadians to receive both the Distinguished Flying Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross. He served his country for twenty-eight years and had an outstanding military career.
Today he lives in Kamloops, British Columbia with his wife Valerie.
Lieutenant Colonel Trotter is one of the few remaining veterans of World War II and at eighty six remains a strong advocate for veterans rights.
