Her weapons are words: the only way to convince people that religion can never justify violence and murder.Born in 1959 in Schwanenstadt, Austria, Gudrun Harrer is an Islamic Studies scholar, political scientist, Middle East expert, and reporter for the Austrian newspaper Der Standard. She teaches Middle Eastern Modern History and Politics at the University of Vienna. In 2006, she was a Special Envoy to Iraq from the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the EU and the Chargée d'Affaires of the Austrian Embassy in Baghdad. In 2015, she won the Bruno Kreisky Prize for her life's work in journalism.
Shirin Ebadi, geb. 1947 in Hamadan/Iran, Juristin, Richterin, Anwältin, Kämpferin für die Rechte von Frauen und Kindern. Gründerin des Defenders of Human Rights Center in Iran. 2003 Friedensnobelpreis als erste Person aus dem Iran. 2004 Liste der hundert mächtigsten Frauen der Welt. Liste der hundert einflussreichsten Frauen aller Zeiten. 2009 Exil in London. Verfasserin mehrerer Bücher. Zuletzt Until We Are Free. My Fight for Human Rights in Iran.
Gudrun Harrer, geb. 1959 in Schwanenstadt, Islamwissenschafterin, Politikwissenschafterin, Nahostexpertin und Journalistin bei der österreichischen Tageszeitung "Der Standard". Lehrbeauftragte für Moderne Geschichte und Politik des Nahen Ostens an der Universität Wien und der Diplomatischen Akademie Wien. 2006 Sondergesandte des österreichischen EU-Vorsitzes im Irak und Geschäftsträgerin der österreichischen Botschaft in Bagdad. 2015: Bruno-Kreisky-Preis für ihr publizistisches Gesamtwerk.
