Produktinformationen zu „Ancient Ukrainian literature (ePub)“
In this book, the reader can get acquainted with the main genres and outstanding monuments of ancient Ukrainian literature.
Ancient Ukrainian literature dates back to the time of the ancient Russian feudal state - Kyivan Rus.
It arose on the basis, on the one hand, of oral folk literature, Slavic mythology, and on the other hand, on the assimilation of the Byzantine-Bulgarian Christian literary tradition.
Original Old Russian literature is presented in the genres of chronicles ("The Tale of Bygone Years", "Kyiv Chronicle"), "pouchany" ("Pouchenie" by Volodymyr Monomakh), oratorical and moralizing prose ("The Word of Law and Grace" by Hilarion), hagiographic works, or biographies of saints ("Tales of Boris and Hleb", "Kyiv-Pechersk paterik") and others. The most prominent monument of the literature of Kyivan Rus is the anonymous "Word about Igor's Regiment".
