Due to its isolated location Christmas Island has developed a high level of endemism, and BirdLife International declared it a Primary Endemic Bird Area (EBA-P). Two thirds of the Island is included in the Christmas Island National Park. The biodiversity makes Christmas Island a popular destination. Best months to visit are July through to october, between November and June the Island is subject to monsoons.
