Produktinformationen zu „Bringing Pain Relief to Children (PDF)“
While in recent years there has been considerable progress in treating adult pain, children's pain has often been inadequately treated and the importance of place of treatment has been neglected. In Bringing Pain Relief to Children: Treatment Approaches, a panel of prominent clinician-scientists comprehensively reviews the latest developments in pediatric pain management, with special emphasis on the setting in which pain is detected and managed. The authors explore the cutting-edge of children's pain care in inpatient, outpatient, palliative care, school, and residential settings, and describe alternate approaches, including complementary and alternative medicine, pain management via the internet and information technology, and pain care in developing countries. They also consider the theory and explicit practice of knowledge dissemination, a critical issue regardless of the setting in which treatment is being delivered. The book is derived from the keynote talks given at the International Forum on Pediatric Pain, held at White Point Beach in Nova Scotia, Canada, in the fall of 2004.
Innovative and state-of-the-art, Bringing Pain Relief to Children: Treatment Approaches offers pain specialists, pediatricians, nurses, psychologists, and other health professionals the latest research on the contexts in which children's pain can be treated and novel approaches to the management of their pain in different settings.

"This is a multi-authored book with the majority being from Canada and then the U.S.A. … this would be a useful adjunctive book for a paediatric pain service library. … would be very helpful for the community paediatrician or perhaps the general practitioner undertaking significant paediatric pain problems on an outpatient basis."
