The book's aim is to provide some light, humorous and nostalgic reading for relaxing moments.

In the modern world there is a great deal of change, sophistication, advances in science, technology and modes of communication.

There has been what we refer to as the "Rat Race". People have been complaining of being stressed out, producing many serious problems, within the family circle. We had the "Celtic Tiger" which bred arrogance, greed and money worship as the new God.

Surely, none of the latter is good for the body or the soul. The recent Covid 19 pandemic has slowed things down, but has also caused more stress, tragedy, anxiety and worry.

The older times and lifestyle of a simpler, more ordinary way of living, at a slow, relaxed pace, with little change, is still hankered after by many. Things were black or white, unlike today, where anything goes. It was not all sunshine for it had its dark days, but there was a friendliness, conversation, humour and story-telling. This Collection of light reading looks, to some extent, into colourful characters of rural Ireland in the somewhat simpler times which were rich in such characters and their unique lifestyle and ways of doing business.
