Jian-Hua Yin received a PhD from the University of Manitoba and joined as an Assistant Professor at Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1995. He became Chair Professor of Soil Mechanics in 2014. Professor Yin also serves as Vice President of the International Association for Computer Methods and Advances in Geomechanics (IACMAG), co-editor of International Journal of Geomechanics, and a co-editor of Geomechanics and Geoengineering (UK). He has received the John Booker Medal, Chandra S. Desai Excellence Award, and Outstanding Contributions Medal from IACMAG.
Dr Guo-Fu Zhu received his PhD from Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1999 and was appointed Professor in the Department of Engineering Structures and Mechanics at Wuhan University of Technology in 2005. His research interests include numerical methods and computer programming development in geotechnical engineering, consolidation analysis of soils, piled foundations, testing study of soil properties, and numerical modeling for various geotechnical structures. He has produced more than seventy publications in referred journals and conference proceedings.
