Kira Logan is teaching a summer workshop in Plein Aire painting. One student, Jason, convicted several years before of wrong-way driving and causing a fatal car accident, was sentenced to only a few years in jail. Many people, resentful of the short time he was incarcerated, have gathered for Kira's class, with revenge in mind.
From the fi rst day problems arise and things begin to go wrong. Threats are made, not-so-subtle warnings issued and a wildfire started in the forest where the class is painting. An attack aimed at Jason miscarries, fatally injuring an innocent student.
This last assault brings the police but doesn't stop the mayhem. Then another death occurs. Kira must fi nd the murderer before the class ends and the killer gets away.
