Kantesh Balani is Full Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur, India, since November 2018. He earned his doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from FIU in 2007. He has published over 170 articles (h-index of 40, i10-index of 120+) with 7500+ citations in peer-reviewed international journals. He is a recipient of the Yadupati Singhania Memorial Chair, an ASM Class of Fellow 2021, a Fellow of INAE 2021, a Fellow of NASc 2021, the Swarnajayanti Fellowship 2017-23, and the P.K. Kelkar Research Fellowship. He is co-inventor of three Indian patents (11 filed), the co-author of two books, and is a reviewer of 50+ journals.
