Aunt Abby's intentions are good - as she picks up Reanne from prison and takes her to a salon to get the perfect haircut for all the job interviews she has set up - but is she smothering the newly released inmate?

When Reanne meets hairdresser Harriet, the two connect through their shared disgust for the small town and its gossip spreading sewing circles. Reanne sees that they have a lot more in common than that, and discovers her own freedom to escape from the surroundings that hold her back.

She'll confront rumors and hearsay, battle with addiction and dependence, struggle with codependency and different kinds of recovery, all on her way to becoming free.

Before she can get out from under her heavy past, Reanne must face a tattered childhood in her abandoned family home. She soon learns that freedom comes in many forms, and is never outright, it must be fought for.
