Produktinformationen zu „Hesiod. Essays (ePub)“
Hesiod is a historical figure. His works are the fruit of individual creativity. In the work of Hesiod, his personal, psychological traits, peculiarities of the worldview associated with biography were reflected: Hesiod himself is a peasant with a typical small-property psychology, and "Works and Days" bears the imprint of the personality of the author himself.
In Works and Days, the main attention is paid to man and his needs, the myths about the gods perform only a service function. The message for writing the poem was autobiographical: a conflict with his brother. The poem itself is Hesiod's admonition to his unlucky brother Perse, who squandered his share of the inheritance, and then brazenly sued for himself the share of Hesiod. The call to honest work pervades the poem with pathos.
Another work of Hesiod - "Theogony" - on the contrary, tells about the deeds of immortals. "Theogony" is a story about the origin of the gods. Since the gods personify the phenomena of nature and social life, this is also a story about the origin of the universe and people, about the place of the latter among the gods - a manifestation of the main issue of the worldview.
