Growing up in the Philadelphia suburbs my entire life I learned to appreciate all the wonderful surroundings in our communities. We would be able to ride our bicycles all day without seeing a single car, cornfields, beans and cows, poles, and electricity lines for miles. As a youngster, I loved helping in the garden and naturally grew in the direction of Horticulture. After graduating high school I chose to go to work as a nurseryman/ landscaping where I focused on learning my plant material and techniques from professional friends and mentors. At 23 I had a great opportunity for employment with The Electric Company so I chose to go downtown to Philly, take a few tests, and was later hired as a building mechanic helper. The job provided me time to learn from others about building mechanics and the importance of working safely. After progression and training, I worked my way up to a first-class building mechanic. this job gave me a great chance to look around the company and really see what engaged me. In 1991, I had a chance to work with the Main Steam/ Generator team and I found what I was looking for. Where" IT" comes from electricity, miles of poles and wires delivering this, Electricity. Inside the Giant Electric Machine, IGEM1, for the true definition of what it takes to manufacture electricity in today's modern power plants.
