Dennis Black , a former instructor of Western novels, draws upon his reading experiences from Thomas Berger, Larry McMurtry, Louis L'Amour, Zane Grey, Jack Schaefer as well as others and from Western movies to develop his concept for Madeline Her Story Before Abandon Hope. As good fortune would have it, Mr. Black and his wife Janet live in Normal, Illinois, and all four of their children and their families live in or near Normal.
