Thirty years ago as the author was sharing a lesson about tundra animals with his 7th grade students an idea for a Christmas message for children popped into his mind. The tundra animals from that lesson would be the perfect animals to build the story around. The story was written but for a variety of reasons was never published. Finally eight years after the author retired from teaching 7th graders his ‘tundra animal’ idea became a book. The author is still involved in teaching as he works at an outdoor learning center along Big Stone Lake several miles south of Beardsley, Minnesota. He and his wife Kathie reside on a small acreage near Wheaton, Minnesota where he gardens, golf’s and entertains seven grandchildren.
