Much of Ewell's life as a member of the duPont family is intermingled in the poetry. She was married to Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Alexis Felix duPont IV. He was also a very accomplished marine artist. His life was taken away by a tragic car accident. The impact of this taught Ewell to treasure every day that life has to offer.
