Authors Bio-Orsha Magyar/Darlene Higbee Clarkin

Darlene Higbee Clarkin is co founder and former Chief Technology Officer of Points.com, a publicly traded company that provides loyalty eCommerce and technology solutions to the world's top brands; she co invented its state of the art loyalty commerce platform.

Darlene's father had struggled for years with type 2 diabetes, and one thing his struggle showed her was the importance of having a healthy diet. The more she saw the toll that the disease was taking, the stronger grew her passion to learn about nutrition.

In 2010 she applied to the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition (CSNN) in the Registered Holistic Nutritionist program. She found the program was inspiring, and it empowered her with the knowledge she needed to help others take charge of their own health.

Darlene soon saw the importance of getting this powerful information to the public and the need for it to be affordable and accessible to all. She knew she could do this with the power of technology and an integrative approach. She'd need a subject matter expert in nutrition who also believed in an integrative approach and practiced it. While studying with Orsha Magyar, she knew that her instructor was the one to make her vision a reality.

Orsha's passion to broaden people's knowledge about health surfaced early in her career. As a biopsychology undergraduate and a neuroscience graduate student, her research on anxiety and epilepsy appeared in scientific and medical journals and at international medical conferences.

To further her biomedical background, Orsha became a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN) and was soon a leading instructor at CSNN. An expert on the relationship between nutrition and mental health, she taught subjects such as Preventative Nutrition, Anatomy & Physiology, and Optimum Nutrition for the Mind.

Darlene had conceptualized the products and services to be offered by myWholeLife.ca, and she approached Orsha to join her to develop the content. Together they have launched three mobile apps, a free online health report, and now their first eBook.
