FUNCTIONALISM makes analogies with living organisms. Thus, society is analyzed through needs or functions, which are satisfied with processes (structures), also seeking the unity of society.
It has two variants: one that ignores the conflicts and another that recognizes them.
MARXISM not only recognizes conflict, but declares that the nature of society is conflict.
When speaking of education, functionalism uses the term "socialization", while Marxism speaks of "reproduction".
