Produktinformationen zu „The House Across the Lake (ePub)“
The new thriller from New York Times bestselling author Riley Sager in which a recently fired Broadway star flees to a remote Vermont lake house, only to find out that the area has a history of missing women.
Actress Casey Fletcher never planned to return to the Vermont lake that bears her family's name. For her, it's a place filled with bad memories of the death of her husband, who drowned the summer before. But return she does, desperate to escape the bad press when she is fired from the hit Broadway play she'd been starring in. (Turns out producers get angry when the leading lady shows up drunk to a Wednesday matinee.) Alone in the lake house that's been in her family for generations, Casey plans to spend her time lost in a bourbon haze.
Then she meets the couple in the glass house across the lake.
Tom and Katherine Royce are perfect. He's the founder of a popular social media app. She's a former model turned philanthropist. And to Casey's surprise, they take an instant liking to her. But Casey also notices tension between the couple. Tom seems a bit too controlling and Katherine seems a bit too sad for someone with what appears to be a dream life. Suspicious that their perfection might be too good to be true, Casey starts spying on the couple from her own home, until one day, Katherine Royce disappears.
Tom claims Katherine headed back to New York, but Casey feels like there is something more sinister at play. When she teams up with the handsome ex-cop next door to investigate, she discovers that Katherine's disappearance isn't the first in the area. Casey, more than anyone, knows the answer could be resting at the bottom of the lake-and that the dark water is full of surprises.
