Toad deceives Mole and Rat into believing he is ill so he might escape from their decision to place him in home detention.After a string of mishaps, Toad finds the Water Rat's hole and rejoins Mole, Rat, Badger, and Mole. The four buddies live happily ever after he atones for his past excesses by reaching out and making amends to people he has offended.Along with the main tale, the book also includes several stand-alone short stories starring Rat and Mole.
