BRUCE J. CHALMER is founder of Chalmer Associates, a statistics and computer consulting firm in Montpelier, Vermont. Previously, he was Statistical Computational Specialist at the Academic Computer Center and taught statistics in the College of Engineering at the University of Vermont in Burlington. With David G. Whitmore, he coauthored Statpal: A Statistical Package for Microcomputers (Marcel Dekker, Inc.). He is a member of /he American Statistical Association, and has served as a consultant to the State of Vermont, AT&T Bell Laboratories, and other organizations. His professional interests include computer science, statistics, biostatistics and health care, and psychology, and he has presented papers on these subjects at numerous symposia. Dr. Chalmer received the B.A. degree (1972) from the University of Toronto in Canada, and the M.S. (1978) in statistics and Ph.D. (1982) degrees in psychology from the University of Vermont in Burlington.
