This is the story of a young girl brought up in seclusion in a strictly ruled Muslim community. She spends her life dreaming of the outside world, thinking of a way to escape. Chosen against her will to become the fourth wife of the powerful and selfish master of the village, she uses her sexual skills to bond with her husband and make the man fall in love with her.
Thanks to her husband's fascination for her, with great shrewdness she manages to acquire personal power inside the palace and gradually change the Islamic rules of the village. However Zafira, the protagonist, has an indomitable spirit and feels frustrated by a life that, although privileged and luxurious, still deprives her of personal freedom. When she gets the opportunity to run away she does it with no hesitation. Zafira believes she has finally found romantic love and a life free of rules and restrictions. Reality is very different.
The plot involves explicit sexual scenes, murder, romantic love, betrayal and disillusionment. The book's message reaches out to all women and men.
