earlier interpretations concentrated rather on the deposition by his
subjects of a weak king, reading it in tandem with Shakespeare's
Richard II. The introduction shows how the play works to give the
audience an equal emotional commitment to opposing points of view and
concludes that this is what makes Edward II such an uncomfortable and
challenging play.

Autoren-Porträt von Christopher Marlowe
Christopher Marlowe was a playwright, poet, scholar, translator and alleged spy. His other works include: Dido Queen of Carthage, Tamburlaine Part 1, Tamburlaine Part 2, The Jew of Malta, Edward II and The Massacre at Paris. He was murdered at the age of 29, in a private dining house in Deptford in 1593.
