This book presents 58 refereed papers given at the 38th Matador Conference held at National Formosa University, Taiwan in March 2015. Lin Li is a professor of Laser Processing and director of the Laser Processing Research Centre at the University of Manchester, UK. After graduating from the Dalian University of Technology, China (1977-1982), he joined Imperial College London to study for a PhD in Laser Engineering. He then spent six years as a Research Assistant at Liverpool University, UK before joining the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK. Lin Li's research interests are photonics, laser processing, and advanced manufacturing and this has led to 600 publications in journals and 47 patents. He is an elected fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, International Academy of Production Engineering (CIRP), International Academy of Photonics and Laser Engineering, Institute of Engineering and Technology, and Laser Institute of America and a Charted Engineer. He is currently president of the Laser Institute of America, vice president of the Association of Industrial Laser Users, and the past president of the International Academy of Photonics and Laser Engineering.
